So throughout the trip, we would stumble on signs that caused you to pause and think.....are we really that stupid as a society that they had to make a sign.
Then there were other signs that made you think twice.....hmmm
Here is our collection:
Bob stumbled on this one, I guess if there were one place you had to go to weather the storm...the men's restroom would be it!!!
Well this one isn't funny or pathetic, it just makes you smile after a long day of traveling.
This one is a restaurant in Santa Fe called Coyote Cafe. It was cute, artistic and memorable.
Gotta love a sign where you can change the words around...go that away --> <--
Now this one is disturbing, Adult Viewers Only. When was the last time you drank from the toilet..I didn't know this was an option...and no this wasn't Coyote Cafe....a people only rest room.
The next two pics go together...this is the Navajo Bridge going across the Colorado River in northern Arizona. It is 467 feet above the Colorado River (equivalent to 47 story building)
The river below is emerald green...and appears to be 2 feet deep...beautiful spot.
Then we see the sign......enough said!?
So if you haven't noticed the trend, people are really stupid around bathrooms.
For this one, I don't want to be the guy with that job....it takes trash collector's job to a whole new level!!
This just struck us as funny, why would someone purposely lock doors if the business was open...sure perhaps a slacker, but you fire them, a sign just won't do.
Location, location, location....someone should have told the person who put up this sign....pretty obvious people won't park in the marsh
This was inside of the stagecoach that Sara and Dee rode on. Entertaining for sure..if you like you're ride, kiss the horse and tip the driver....Sara kissed the horse..
We found this as a unique way to say no Jaywalking...
I have no words, did they have too many lawsuits because people kept falling in and getting hurt?? Do people really need instructions?
Ok, so we have all seen signs for deer or moose crossings, maybe even turtles or ducks crossing....but to put up a light-up sign warning bear and wolf crossing, you get excited (head on a pivot), then nervous (would they attack the car) and then disappointed (when you don't see any)....
And then Yellowstone shows you it's no joke...they do exist!!
We now take these signs a little more seriously!!
This was a flyer they give to all visitors coming into Yellowstone...Gotta love the visual, and yet you still see tourists getting too close to the Bison.
We decided to take an aggressive hike in Arches. We read the trail summary provided when we entered the park(below). We were dressed appropriately and had 8 liters of water between the three of us.

Primitive Trail at Devils Garden | 7.2 miles (11.6 km) | 4 hours | The Primitive Trail is an alternative route to or from Double O Arch. It involves narrow ledges, uneven surface hiking and scrambling on slickrock. Not recommended when rock is wet or snowy, or for those uncomfortable with heights or exposure.Trail guideavailable at trailhead. |
Here is the sliderock we were going to scramble on (partially on our butts).
So then we read the trail sign....right in the middle of the sign, under Be Prepared....it states "no high heels". Ugh, to think we were so prepared that we had to turn back now....
Lastly, in Yellowstone there are thermal features everywhere. The surface is just a crust, kinda like a crusty coat of snow that we could walk on when we were kids. Here is a picture that shows that crust layer. Right next to this is a little sign saying Danger, Don't walk on the surface.....as if the steam and boiling water everywhere wasn't a dead giveaway.
Well that was our trip, we hoped you enjoyed the blog and have inspired you to see the parks first hand. They are absolutely wonderful and we can't wait to go back!!
