Day 10 - Monument Valley, Four Corners, and a Tornado!!

Leaving the Grand Canyon, we got a pleasant surprise, 2 elks standing on the side of the road.  This was our 3rd siding, but the first with a photo op

Heading east, then north into Utah

And Monument Valley (think of Forrest Bump when he decided to stop running anfd go home)

Leaving this area, we headed back to route 160, there were thunderstorms all around.  What was most unbelievable was that these storms threw off a tornado!! Yes, a real tornado....Dee spotted it, Bob our resident geologist and weather guy (just ask the kids in Cheshire on his power to predict snow days), Bob confirmed it and Sara captured it on film (or digital, as the case may be).

We took an indirect route back into Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado to find ourselves in the local tourist trap, but a must when your in the area.

Four Corners, where New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Arizona meet.  Stupid tourists pay $5 each to stand, sit or lie on the spot and take pictures, so of course, we did just that.

Finally, we reach our destination for the day, Mesa Verde
